Melanie McGUIRE

A former state police computer examiner, Jennifer Seymour, testified that a computer
in the McGuires' home was used to do research on poisons, guns and murder in the
weeks leading up to William McGuire's disappearance. Terms searched included
"how to commit murder" and "instant undetectable poison."

Dr. David Barron, a forensic toxicologist, told jurors that a small amount of alcohol was
detected in the victim's blood and urine. He said his Virginia laboratory did not conduct
tests for chloral hydrate, the sedative that prosecutors allege Melanie McGuire used
to disable her husband before shooting him.

Nurse Lori Thomas testified that, when she went to her co-worker Melanie McGuire's apartment
the month after her husband went missing, she smelled a strong odor of bleach in the
couple's master bathroom. She described the scent as "horrible" and "like a morgue."

Defense attorney Stephen Turano listened March 15, 2007, as prosecutors played audio
recordings of wiretaps on phone conversations between his client, Melanie McGuire,
and friends and relatives.

Police officer Doug Zebley testified that William McGuire's head was wrapped in a medical
supply blanket. Another witness told jurors that she saw the same type of blankets
 in Melanie McGuire's home.

James Finn, a nursing school classmate with a long-standing crush on McGuire, took the
stand against her on March 20, 2007. He said she asked him for information about
buying a gun before William McGuire's murder.

Dr. Bradley Miller described his two-year affair with Melanie McGuire. The reproductive
endocrinologist told jurors that he and McGuire had talked about divorcing their
spouses and starting a new family, but said they did not have a firm date in mind.

Melanie McGuire listened as her former lover, Dr. Bradley Miller, testified on March 22, 2007.
Under cross-examination, he acknowledged that McGuire was loved by her patients and
said it was her caring personality that drew him to her.

Investigator Donald Macciocca of the state's Division of Criminal Justice displayed contents
of a Federal Express envelope sent to the assistant attorney general who was presenting
evidence against Melanie McGuire to a grand jury. Among its contents, Macciocca said,
was a letter to the prosecutor, a ring, and rubber gloves.

Superior Court Judge Frederick DeVesa presided over a sidebar conference March 22, 2007.
Prosecutors and defense attorneys sparred over whether the defense could question
Macciocca about E-ZPass records he had not compiled. The judge ruled that the
questions could not be put to the investigator.

Thomas Lesniak, a forensic scientist at the state police crime lab, used a light box to show
jurors patterns in the plastic of a garbage bag containing William McGuire's remains. He
testified that the woodgrain-like marks were identical to those on bags from
the defendant's home.

State police crime scene investigator Michael McCormick holds up a surgical scrub shirt
recovered at the home of Melanie McGuire's parents. Also found in the home were a
casino comp card in the victim's name and nearly $30,000 in cash.

Leon Sarao, a veteran casino supervisor at the Trump Taj Mahal, told jurors that William
McGuire gambled large sums of money and won big at the Atlantic City establishment.
McGuire converted $97,000 into chips the year before his murder and walked away
with a profit of close to $30,000.
