Hedvig Samuelson's blue diary, in which she
chronicled events in the lives of the three friends,
"Sammy, Ruth
and Ann." One of the entries in the book of secrets with a lock on it
reads,
"Hedonist--doctrine that pleasure is the chief end of man."
H. J. McKinnell's letter to his daughter, accused
murderer Winnie Ruth Judd, admonishing her
to
remain steadfast and Christian during her trial. Dated
October 24, 1931.
Winnie Ruth Judd's rambling
letter to her husband. She addresses the letter to "Dearest Doctor",
and professes her love to him. The letter was written on Saturday,
possibly after the murders
were committed.

self-defense. Her husband, Dr. William
Judd, stands over her
head, and her brother, Burton J. McKinnell, watches at her side.
Judd rejected
general anaesthesia in fear that she would babble
secrets while unconscious.
