Robert Zarinsky's first
years after high school saw the creation of an alter ego, "Lieutenant
Schaefer of the American Republican Army," pictured at left on the
front page of the Elizabeth Daily Journal after his arrest for
setting fires in lumberyards. "Schaefer" also was arrested for a
1961 Linden gas station holdup but was acquitted, as reported by The
Star-Ledger.
