Nancy allegedly drugged her husband by having their six-year-old daughter give him a strawberry
milkshake laced with a cocktail of sedatives. When it had taken effect and the children were out
of the apartment, she bludgeoned him to death. She then rolled up his body in a carpet and had
it placed in their storeroom in the Parkview complex.

Taken just a month before Robert Kissel's death, this photograph of the couple with former US presidente
George Bush at a Taiwanese bank's dinner shows the astonishing gap between the Nancy Kissel presented
to the jury and the glamorous woman she had been before the murder. She recalled in court that the
couple had been late arriving because of a terrible argument. The picture was entered as evidence
by prosecutor Peter Chapman, who asked the defendant why she always wore a "happy, smiling,
unmarked" face at public gatherings despite the savage beatings she claimed she had been receiving.
