Chander "Bobby" Matta was convicted in 1991 and sentenced to life in prison for robbing and killing three prostitutes (Jodie Marie Phillips, Sherry Larman and Sandra Rene Johnson) over a 36-hour period during the Memorial Day holiday weekend the year before. Each of the women was killed by asphyxiation.
