A court in Kazakhstan has handed down the death
sentence to a 29-year-old man convicted of murdering six women in the
northern city of Petropavlovsk between March and November 2000.
The Interfax-Kazakhstan news agency said Oleg
Murayenko, who already had three convictions, would be executed by
firing squad.
He was also found guilty of beating up inmates at the
prison where he had served his earlier convictions.
