L'affaire Socley

On April 19, 1935, little girl Nicole Marescot, four and a half years, was removed to his parents' home at Chaumont. The disappearance caused great excitement among the public, especially since it occurred at the same time that the case Lindbergh.

After six months of investigations, the child's body was found in a wood adjoining the city. She was raped and strangled.

Socley Gabriel, with a history of indecent assault, despite his stubborn denials, was sentenced to death. A small procedural irregularity did cancel the decision. He was retried in Dijon and condemned to hard labour for life.

Released in 1960, he tried, after a month, cause a girl. He was put to flight by passers-by. Arrest in the Yonne, he was interned at the center of psychotherapeutic of Sarreguemines.
